Fort Smith, Ar. (August 31, 2015) – On Saturday, October 3, 2015, the Komen Ozark Affiliate of Susan G. Komen will host the 9th Annual Paint the Park Pink at University of Arkansas Fort Smith campus. The day begins with a Survivor Breakfast sponsored by Sparks Health. The breakfast is for breast cancer survivors and a guest only. After breakfast, the survivor photo will be taken and the Survivor Parade will begin at 9:45 am. The Family Fun Walk will start at 10 am, but participants are encouraged to show up early to cheer on the amazing women and men who have battled or are still battling breast cancer!

Paint the Park Pink is Komen Ozark’s largest fundraiser in the River Valley and helps raises funds for women who are uninsured or underinsured and helps raise awareness for breast health.

“We are thankful to have a satellite office located in Fort Smith to ensure women receive education about breast health and linking women to breast health services,” said Lauren Marquette, Executive Director at the Ozark Affiliate of Susan G. Komen. “At Komen Ozark, we believe that ALL women deserve access to quality healthcare, regardless of their ability to pay and events like Paint the Park Pink help us to make that possible.”

Registration for the walk is $20 for adults, $15 for students (18 and under with a Student I.D.) and $10 for kids ages 12 and under.

For those who want to support Komen Ozark but cannot make the walk, donations will be accepted through December 3. Donations can be made either online at www.komenozark.org or by sending a check to the Komen Ozark headquarters at P.O. Box 309 Springdale, AR 72764.

75 percent of the proceeds from this event benefit local women and men and helps fund local breast health programs that provide education, screening and treatment assistance to those in need. The other 25 percent of the proceeds goes to breast cancer research. For those who want to support Komen but can’t attend the event, donations can be made either online at www.komenozark.org/donate or by sending a check to the Komen Ozark office at P.O.
